The Victoria Bar, Restaurant and Guest House was re- launched in March 2017.The Victoria, Walshaw is a fabulous multi award establishment. The awards that have been received to date include -winner of the “Made in Bury-Business Awards”, local area finalist at the FSB community award and a national Finalist in the “John Smith’s Great British Pub Awards”
This local friendly pub and restaurant is very popular with the local community. Richard, Lisa and the team have worked hard to create a warm friendly environment for all their customers. Located in a village, the pub offers good quality local food, drinks, entertainment and accommodation.
The menu includes traditional home-cooked favourites alongside “Chef Specials” using local seasonal produce
The Victoria have supported the local community during the Christmas season by supporting the local Christmas Carol concert with mulled wine and mince pies, Dog Xmas parties for customers and their dogs and Santa Specials breakfasts.
The managers and staff are very aware of food allergies, they have a rigorous process in place and have undertaken allergen training provided by JAS ltd.
In December 2019, Richard Moore the Director of The Victoria, Walshaw was delighted to receive his Allergen Accreditation Certificate. The Victoria is an award- winning pub which has a fantastic restaurant and also offers accommodation for guests.
It is obvious that Richard and the team are working very hard to provide a successful pub which supports its local community. During the Christmas season the Victoria supported the village carol concert, provided 2 Santa breakfasts for children and even Santa breakfasts for dogs and their owners.
The Chefs and FOH teams both attended Allergen awareness training provided by JACS Ltd which enabled them to put processes in place prior to their application to join the Allergen Accreditation Scheme. The Victoria is part of the EI pub group and Richard has been part of a group who are trialling an app to support all tasks and activities performed by team members. The EI app allows any staff member to sign in using their own name and password. The procurement section contains all the suppliers and ingredients for all products. The staff are trained to ask each table whether any customer has allergies. If a customer has an allergy the information will be captured on the app. And all actions taken will be noted on the app. The information includes the name of the staff member who dealt with the enquiry, the dishes chosen by the customer and any other key information. This will then be accessible in the event of a query. This is good practice and provides evidence of due diligence and care and attention of the customer’s needs. The chef in the kitchen will have access to this and will be able to check the allergens and other key information.
The team are all very aware of the rise in the numbers of customers with food allergies. They want to ensure that all their customers, regardless of their dietary request will be able to eat in the restaurant safely and with confidence.
The team at Allergen Accreditation are delighted that The Victoria Walshaw are the first pub in the UK to join the Allergen Accreditation Scheme.
